The UPND/PF pact has scooped the highly contested parliamentary by-election in Solwezi in Noth-Western Province.

Official results from the Electoral commission of Zambia (ECZ) indicate that the PF/UPND Pact has beaten the ruling Movement for Multi-party Democracy (MMD) in its strong hold giving another upper hand to the pact that scooped the Kasama central seat last month.

PF/UPND Pact Candidate Watson Lumba got 5669 MMD ‘s candidate Albert Chifita got 4457 FDA’s Muhammad Kalela 189, and Thomas Kafula who stood as independent managed to get 51 votes.

On Thursday Vice President George Kunda said the MMD was confident of retaining the Solwezi central constituency parliamentary seat.

Mr Kunda said the MMD has done its best and accomplished its mission of convincing the electorates in Solwezi central constituency to vote for Albert Chifita as he was the only credible candidate who had a heart to save them.

The Solwezi central seat fell vacant following the death of the Member of Parliament Ben Tetamashimba who was also the Local Government and Housing Minister.

Political analyast says the Solwezi Central by-election was being used to determine the strength of the UPND/PF Pact in its readiness for the presidential and parliamentraly elections in 2011.

  1. Here comes da pact. Movement for mad dogs kuya beebele. Viva Pact. Red lipped vice president will be in a shock. He thinks Zambians are that cheap. Sorry Mr

  2. Why is LT has failed to make the headline for the Solwezi bye election outcome on top of Minister of finance headline? It shows how typical LT you are.

  3. Solwezi, goodwork done! Congratulations PF/UPND pact. Let Rupiah know that” he can fool some people sometimes but he cannot fool all the people all the time”. Viva Zambia for Change!

  4. they don’t agree, good wake up call for the MMD. this is what we need. Banda please pull up your socks and appologise to Chief Litunga before its too late.

  5. Hey, Lusaka times is this not supposed to be your headline???This is the main story. Solwezi thought before they voted …HONK HONK and CHEERS

  6. They all went there. First its was Red lips, then Nyamsoya and then Red lips and Ineternational Master Rigger(VJ), but still they have gone done. This is the beginning of the end. Already they are insulting the crocs in Western Province before they cross the Zambezi River. Please MMD start packing. Just know that RB is not presidential material for 2011.

  7. Veteran, VJ, Kunda should be crying. You are silenced. Already you are in trouble with Kaongolo Ka Nyambe. MMD is gone, anger is spreading in Zambia against you chaps who eat alone!

  8. #11 true words things must change in Zed…Zambia needs a brighter future and MMD’s 20 years rule ain’t doing it.

  9. I can’t wait to hear the spin from MMD spinners. The fact of the matter is that MMD have been whooped twice in 2 high profile bye elections.

  10. How do you expect MMD to win when their president is ever in the air. The writing is on the wall. Tn western province we will teach them a lesson too. RB has destroyed the MMD.

  11. When and where is the next bye election? Whooping MMD is becoming fun. We need to send this RB to a permanent vacation. He has wasted, and continues to waste tax payers’ money.

  12. I am very happy, and those who want to buy Zamtel should think twice. In 2011 Zamtel will be nationalised. I challenge Chizuka to resign also. Watch the space.

  13. Veteran, do your ranting again. It seems you have no brilliance than the so called Kaponyas that you despise. Really this is cause to celebrate. Now I will enjoy my thanks giving turkey. MMD and Banda’s politics of hate and insults is taking a nose dive. The smart ones like Katele Kalumba are not participating in the mud throwing contest started by Banda. This is when we shall see the desperation in Banda. Next victim will be Kunda. It seems like Mpombo is getting vindicated by the by elections. Hope they take him up on the challenge of expelling him from MMD that he wallops them in the by elections. I think it is time for Chibombamilimo and Shaka to move on to the Pact. Now the fear is getting grip of those deviants in PF who followed Machungwa to start rethinking their stand.

  14. VIVA PACT. BACILI BALESUMINA. TABAKABWEKESHEPO UKUSALA TOURIST AS A PRESIDENT. KWASHALA PETER MACHUNGWA AND HIS FELLOW BOOT LEAKERS.

  15. uyu ci.colour veteran alikwisa? you expose your arrogance and ignorant and you think people who want change are stupid, you call them all sorts of names like kaponya’s, now you are white washed by the same people you call kaponya’s and villagers. Dont you think that fifth grander is smarter than you? Viva the pact ,2011 Movement for Mad Dogs kuya bebele

  16. #24. W should stop that habit of jumping from one party to the other. Lets have completely new people to run the affairs of the country. The country is not short of leaders. PLEASE THE UPND/PF Pact, don’t accept any muselela kwakaba in your pact. They will just dilute the whole essence and it will be the same MMD in UPND/PF Pact clothing. What has Shaka and Chibombamilimo done for the people anyway apart from getting their gratuity and fattening themselves?

  17. The writing is clearly on the wall now, in black and white, Kuya bebele! I also hope the judiciary can see and read it, we are not going to accept any suspect rulings from now onwards and this should save as a warning to the likes of Judge Musonda that they better start looking for jobs elsewhere. The saga unfolding in the Western Province is but just the last nail in the coffin. In classic “chickens coming back home to roost”, the tribalism Banda engendered and allowed to fester to the detriment of our society is coming back to haunt the living daylight out of him. Chiefs in Northern, Luapula, Central, Western & Southern are all up in arms for one reason or another. This has to be the most useless presidency of all times, even Idi Amin or Bokassa could hold the axis for a couple of…

  18. Well, we lost this one. We have been whipped bearing in mind this was our seat. Time to go back to the drawing board and reorganize for 2011. Congratulations to the so called PACT and their newly elected MP and looking forward a a fruitful debate in the house with you..

But Guess what? WE WILL BE BACK !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  19. “Vice President George Kunda says the Movement for Multi-Party Democracy) MMD is confident of retaining the Solwezi central constituency parliamentary seat in today’s by-election.Mr Kunda said the MMD has done ITS VERY BESTEST and accomplished its mission of convincing the electorates in Solwezi central constituency to vote for Albert Chifita as he is the only credible candidate who has a heart to save them” . Now now now! Kunda’s job must surely be on the line now.

  20. am waiting for Mpombo to be fired to the so called NEC. let them do it and we shall teach them another lesson. Miyanda please come over to the pack before its too late. we need you to work with Hikainde to organize Zambia when Sata becomes a senior citizen and retires from active politics. He has set up the precedent to make the opposition strong. come lets clean this country.

  21. Wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! bets news i will sleep well tonite. North-Western is gone, Western is gone. Lelo–lelo RB where will you get the votes? Mbinji-inashiki Aka-yambezhi muzati mwani!

  22. Elo lwanya!!! half day for me,bring on them budweiser……im so over the moon,RB and kunda must be shyting themselves….kundas job is on the line

  23. The pact here we come lets go next to kafulafuta and Namwala, ba MMD Lesa wabo alifwa, he died together with Mwanawasa, epakubapela RB Shima farm. moreover even spirits of late BEN MOUTH PIECE Mashimba nashibombela po. thanks Big BEN.

  24. imwe ba kapuli, it’s time to start identifying new leadership who will take politics and the economy of this country to another level.dont just scream viva UPND/PF pact wirthout analysing who are in this pact.ask yourselves if they offer you hop or else you will just be changing bottles but the same wine.learn lessons of 1991. MMD sure in it’s present form must go.but becareful of who we settle for.aba bafitole ba politician bamobene.

  25. Good morning bloggers and goodnight to some of you, its just 12 AM here now ,so am going to bed now, since i have had the news i was waiting for, Kolwezi by election i can obviously sleep peacefully viva PF/UPND Pact for the job well done.Happy thanks giving holiday to every one.

  26. Lessons for rupiah.people are not happy with your arrogance and association with kafupi, people are not happy with how you treated magande, people are not happy with hoe you handled the dora siliya debacle, your plan with your few minnions to forego the convention and impose yourself is a menace, people are not even happy with how you are globe trotting.the summary is people have passed a vote of no confidence in you.

  27. Veteran/Senior Citizen can you come out with your rants to save your thick skin. Movement for Mad Dogs Mourning day. Senior Citizen your days at the Zambian Embassy in USA are becoming thinner and thinner. Thanks to the pact especially the people of Solwezi for showing the Mad dogs what it means power to the people. RB lied in Kasama that he will bring development to the area but those empty promises have dare consequences and this is what Movement for Mad Dogs are still using to buy votes. When will MMD learn to stop corrupting people . In kasama, people said we get the money, gifts and drink beer but we will not vote for MMD and the same as happened in Solwezi. Money will never buy power but a vote. My thoughts to those innocent citizens caught up in violence started by MMD. VIVA PACT

  28. Real MMD members please wake up. This Rupiah and his GK are here to wreck the party. Hold a convention and elect proper leaders. Right now then party is being run by clowns living in a phools paradise. It is also being supported by morons such as the so called Veteran. Like I asked yesterday, why is KK so quiet in the face of unprecedented and overt corruption. There is a plan to revive Unip using state resources while damaging MMD by careless actions.

  29. Magande, the chickens have come home to roost.it’s your time to put your ambitions in high gear.this chaps have been given a wake up call.not even ka mulongoti will say nonsense now.they are shell shocked.so now “YOU CAN GO FOR IT” definately the convention will be held.and my master THE PROFFESSOR CLIVE CHIRWA is landing.so maggots like shikapwasha,ka mulongoti, namugala, kunda purge yourselves.the people have spoken

  30. Congrats PF/UPND pact !!Movement for Mad Dogs(MMD) must start packing enough is enough the people of Solwezi have spoken, come 2011 it will be a white wash!!

  31. #46, you have a vital point except for the insults. I totally agree with you, there is need to identify real and well informed leadership to take the country forward. We should not celebrate change for the sake of change. Let us evaluate each and every individual that we put in leadership.

  32. Ba Ben Kangwa (Veteran) what a short lived gig you are going to have in foreign service. Everyone knows who you are and how you have worked tirelessly to make MMD look like a party that we left before moving abroad. The great Kaonde people have seen how the mine in their area has worked not to their benefit. RB flying to Solwezi with Mswati to drain the nation of its precious stones and pretend all is well. RB wants to be next Mobutu. We are watching. Let him think he is untouchable, but his days are really numbered. If he thinks he will be spared like FTJ, he is making a grave mistake. People have never experienced such corruption in the history of human life. Now he is going to the extent of insulting the great leader of the Barotseland. What a sad person RB must be. GO PACT.

  33. ‘The young man has delivered, he is in the running for presidency for 2011, this was test indeed and the message is clear, our time is up! Congratulations UPND am assuming the elections were free and fair.

  34. THIS IS A VERY SPECIAL CHRITMAS GIFT FROM SOLWEZI RESIDENTS/VOTERS TO THE PEOPLE OF ZAMBIA. THE PACT HAS STARTED DELIVERING AND THIS IS WHAT THE PEOPLE OF ZAMBIA HAVE BEEN CALLING FOR. BWEZANI KUMBUYO BANDA IS LOSING POPULARITY AT HOME, HE HAS SPECIALISED IN FLYING OUT TO OTHER COUNTRIES. HE WANTS TO MAKE MAXIMUM ALLOWANCES. VERY SOON HE WILL BE IN THE USA, THE ADVANCE PARTY IS ALREADY GONE.

  35. We all know that both Sata and HH are damaged goods and good enough only for the pact. In 2011, if this pact wants to secure the presidence too they must bring an electable figure who crosses both intellectual, provincial and tribal lines. Sata and HH are tribal relics and will never be elected. Besides, the new education Clause will bar Satan while Satan’s crew will never accept to be led by HH. Here I will encourage the Pact to look at candidates like Muna Ndulo, Inonge Lewanika, Roger Chongwe, Hansungule, Will Mung’omba, Fred M’Membe etc. They can also encourage Kabinga Pande to cross over, he’s a smart boy.

  36. In a constituency of 34,600 registered voters where less than 13, 000 have voted, MMD as mother and father of Zambian Democracy with dignity conceades loss of the Solwezi constituency.Yes the ruling MMD had put up a good issue based campaign but democracy has carried the day.The party representation now stands droped at 92 less 1 seat leaving the titular opposition at 23+19 seats in the House. No doubt i believe the ruling MMD will carry a postmortem, strategize, reorganize and launch for a spirited national wide crusade.

  37. I didn`t this guy called Veteran MMD loudspeaker is Ben Kangwa. What are coward and an irresponsible guy he is. He spends tax payers money blogging lies on behalf of the MMD . ok we will see. Ben Kangwa start packing.

  38. I said it before that the MMD will have no chance what so ever .THe MMD now need to do what the people want (1) stop entertaining Chiluba(2) Bring in jobs (3) work on roads (4) improve health delivery. The next to go is Bweengwa and kafulafuta

  39. Patrick Mwanawasa … its about time you made it known on wat party you’l contest. If i may think for you MMD is no DEAL..so get get get get get ready to rumble with the pact or else your dream to Manda Hill will be mere wishful thinking. Iyi yena tule wina!!

  40. If RB and GK are serious they should have known they were losing in Kasama and Solwezi. They are burying their heads in the sand and pretending all is well. If they cannot read the mood of the people at least they should listen to the political evaluation of their intelligence services which Iam sure is telling them their time is up (unless they choose to give untrue analysis).

  41. Where is that i.d.i.o.t RB he was busy insulting us yesterday when we told him the MMD was losing. He can go to hell twice. chi colour yourself RB (the blogger)!

  42. When the PACT was formed everyone was against thinking it will never work, well we are all seeing the results, they can speak for themselves. WE NEED CHANGE, WE NEED CHANGE INDEED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  43. MMD is a national party with functional structures in all parts of the country. It is getting stronger and reunifying new and old members like never before.MMD has no challenges of establishing itself or identifying with voters but shifting some social variables while retayloring some public centric policies. All party structures national wide gets reactivated and electrified for a spirited crusade.MMD is wasting time on Solwezi votes or apathy therein. All that is now behind and eyes on the ball.Human capital, strategies, resources and any other logistics are being directed into a Grand national wide crusade. In any election, there can only be one winner and democrats as MMD respects that democratic norm.

  44. Congrats t the PACT, please make this work. RB will now start seeig that he cannot take people for granted anymore. We are tired of their crap. I cant see any posts from senior Shitizen, Capitalist and MMD Bumlicker oops sorry bootlicker! hahahaha i guess these chaps have crawled under a very big stone or….arse!!!

  45. Number 64 Iam trying to understand your reasoning…….your altenatives are equally useless. I don’t really like Sata but I must admit the man does deliver and would definately do better than RB and Chiluba…He also has that forcefulness that we need in Zambia right now. Their is alot of laziness in Zambia.. we need someone to jack us up!

  46. we’re just giving you these two seats “out of mercy”…..2011 we will still be at plot1.remember Kasama and solwezi is not “ALL ZAMBIA”.plot1 is  for ALL ZAMBIA.so dont be so excited baiche imwe.you will cry again 2011 as you always do.We are just good ,they say wen u good ,ur good!Live with it bakabuudo imwe.

  47. Bantalamisoka baleonaula icalo.I’ve been queing up in so many places in the past 2months-ATM,Shop counters, filling stations and all this dont really make sense,But guess what i lined up to VOTE and it made sense. Mad Dogs Kuya bebele.RB,GK,lt.RS and the entire Movement muleya.

  48. thanks solwezians, you ve taught MMD, kunda, kabinga pande, vj and globe trotter a good lesson despite their promises and electral gimmicks.

  49. OUR HEAVENLY FATHER, THANK FOR WHAT YOU HAVE DONE TO US. WE THANK YOU FOR REVEALING YOUR GREATNESS THAT YOU ARE MIGHT. THANK YOU FOR SHOWING THE PEOPLE WHO YOU ARE. THANK YOU FOR HAVING OPENED PEOPLES EYES SO THAT THEY SEE. THANK YOU FOR THE LAST TWO ELECTIONS WE HAVE HAD. THANK YOU FOR THE PEOPLE OF THAT MINING TOWN OF SOLWEZI. I JUST WANT TO PRAISE YOUR NAME. THANK YOU FOR MR SATA AND MR HICHILEMA HIVE THEM GRACE AND WISDOM. I THANK YOU IN JESUS NAME, AMEM AND AMEN.

  50. Imagine, the guys thought of stopping govt workers from hand shaking while greeting each other for fear that they were showing the UPND symbol. Any the hooking and celebrations are going on well and the MMD has vananished in the air amd no where to be seen around town.

  51. Hey, Mwadia Mweka Dad (MMD) this is a strong signal that things are getting worse. We have had a lot of nonsense from you bafikamba. You have to count your days, we are heading December and you have very few days to go. Thats why your RB is busy making allowances so that could use it at his peasant farm.

  52. Well done PACT! This really goes to show how unhappy people have become. I do think if (so to speak) any MMD members defect they should be accepted but should not be given specialtreatment at all. Say if mpombo defects he should not be the automatic canditate. We seriously need fresh blood in Zambian politics and stop this reward system for defectors. The late solwezi MP was UPND then defected to MMD and was given special treatment. They should all fight for party post just like evryone else. The PACT should however, perform it’s not time to sit back simply because they have won, the new MP must prove himself and the relevance of the PACT. Well done!

  53. Like they say “Ladies first” we’re letting u feel good for the meanwhile. Our eyes are still focused on Plot1….VIIIIIVAAAAAAAAAA  RUBIAH BANDA VIIIIVAAA MMD…..building on the promise!Another one will cry like a baby AGAIN in 2011…!heh heh heh heh he

  54. A George Kunda na RB mwebantu

HH said George Kunda suffers from diarrhea when ever he hears of this pact. What more about these two loses now? Diarrhea Mwebantu kuli Ba Kunda ninshi yavutuliko. RB has also started Diarrhea. There is a clear sign that The packed will scoop the Presidency in 20011. Here is a lesson to both Movement for Mad Dogs (MMD) and PF-UPND pact. The PF-UPND pact have gained more confidence and strength and they will not do away with the pact. MMD will start parking heading to the farms in Chipata. RB will go back to his village as village head man

Chifundo ine……. Maloza!! Ngaiwine imwe parcked a Banda?

  55. ANOTHER LOSS. SURELY MMD IS FINISHED. THE WRITTING ON THE WALL IS CLEAR. BUT WHAT DO U EXPECT : BAD ROADS, NO MEDICINE IN HOSPITALS, CORRUPTION, EXPENSIVE EDUCATION, ETC. WE NEED CHANGE

  56. The scales of politics are tipping towards one end, boys get your guns before S.HIT HITS THE FAN!!!!!!!!!! It just had to be some lazy punk from the past to bring MMD down, why? Is that Fu.cker still in Italy? Bring him so that he can mop up his crap.
Good people of NW have spoken, congrats.

  57. People you just dont know how happy i am. if i had known abt the results before sleeping, i would have a good dream. Kalos2020. i hear you. Pact supporter thumbs up. indeed we want a president not director of aviation. when are we having some more by elections. MMD should know that they are hated in Western and Southern Province.

  58. we have done it in Solwezi as promised and we still nursing our hangovers from the celebrations that went on throughout the night into the morning. Voters in Kafulafuta, chilanga, chisamba, chongwe, namwala and in all those held buy PF and UPND rebel MPs get ready to vote wisely as we did yesterday!

  59. #76, PLEASE, for the sake of your dignity, please, napapata, please…. even though they pay you for blogging, do you think this is a good space for selling MMD’s failed intentions. Pass your commiserations and shut the f.uck up!!!!!!

  60. The prophets of doom are licking their wounds. Well done Solwezi. Congrats to The Pact. Thanks MMD for the salt and sugar bait, but we know where our vote lies. We are building consensus. Come 2011, The Pact will be untouchable.

  61. I need a SoLoLa today so that I feel the feelings of Solwezi Air today. Kitwe people can catch me at 18hrs near Barons or former falcon restaraunt. I will be flashing free beers.

  62. VETERAN–AND YOUR BRAINLESS BENEFICIARIES OF ZAMBIAN TAXPAYER MONEY– YOUR DAYS ARE NUMBERED. WE KNOW WHO SPONSORS YOU. THERE CAN ONLY BE ONE CONCLUSION FROM THIS–MMD IS GONE

  63. I wonder what is going on in te mind of Gerge Kunda, after being told that the whole N/W province is behind RB. VJ must be liking his rotten toes

  64. Ole Ole ole ole we are the Champs, UPND/PF pact should be signing. Abakali Bakali. Once again Congrats pact. I will reiterate my call for you to remain vigilant. It was a tough one and I can rest assure you that had you slept MMD were gonna win. However dont be complacent, MMD will stop at nothing to try and win forth coming polls. The embarancement is too much.
Guys you won through thick and thin as a result of vigilance and being equal to the task of all MMD political gimmicks. As for the people of Solwezi, yours was a firm voice through the ballot. Congrats My People. God Bless Solwezi Central and its new MP. Please God help him work with and for the people of Solwezi. Amen!
    I smell ….2011…Polls….being interesting…..

  65. Well done the Pact led by Man Steve, Masaiti Richman, Ms Banda AND THE ENTIRE TEAM. This is a big lesson to MMD, you cant have the likes of Pande and Taima leading a campaign strategy and expect to win. Next will be Namwala, Major Chizyuka watch out MMD watch is mistiming itself. Those who thought RB and the likes of Mulongoti, Elija Julaki Muchima, JEff Kande GK etc will take the party to higher heights are cheating themselves. North Western has gone like that to the PACT. Western Province the same. Where to from here MMD. MMD embarked on a self destruction system. VIVA PACT. MMD been beaten in its own backyard. The moment James Katoka MMD Provincial chairman sat aside that rang a bell for disaster in MMD camp. When pipo are fed up this is the result. Wehere was Kiluba masterdribller?

  66. Congrats .U.P.P.F , that was a result of hard work. Hh had to abandon his family en camped in solwezi for a month. Way to go twasante mwane . Upnd has oso won ward election in mumbwa, zambezi, monze and l stone.

  67. Munazate enu akwetu. Ngunakusakilila nankashi Kudi Mwanta. I am overwhelmed. This is the way for 2011, no bootlicking citizens for the Pact. This is what we have always craved for, the pact PF/UPND. But please define who is going to be the President ?

  68. You guys!!! do not worry this time…!! Just as I said,, the pact will look strong for now because they do not know how will be the president…!!! Lets wait and see how will be the president.!!!! North-western province, western province, southern, these are strong hold of UPND. They still believe HH can be put as a president..!!! this is the reason they won..!!!! now lets see. if sata is put MMD will still take southern, western and north-wesetrn. so The province to play here is copperbelt and Lusaka. any opposition will win these two…!!! take my advise so seriously otherwise,, we will still be in power in 2011 come rain….!!

  69. Good news the PACT has done it again. Now this should be a big lesson to all the chiefs that are engaging themselve into politics. Look what happend in Kasama and now Solwezi the whole entire chiefdom left their palace to go and compaign for MMD. I wonder what they are saying now. People can not be cheated any more.

  70. VIVA PACT!!!!!

That’s a great achievement to beat the MMD in their Backyard.

Coming back to the drawing board. Lets look beyond this result and analyze the chances of the PACT winning the presidential and parliamentary elections in 2011. the good news is that the PACT has carried the day and on more seat has gone to the opposition in the August house.

I have my concerns whether the PACT will keep this seat forever because of my analysis as regards to the registered voters in, for example, in Solwezi and see what chances the PACT can stand to win the 2011 elections.
As per record the total registered voters in Solwezi central as at 2008 was 34,650 and going by the results for 2008, MMD won by a total of 9,622 votes while the PACT only got 4,832 (that is PF and UPND voted added).

  71. This is just about half of what the MMD had. Meanwhile the recent results are far from the true picture of the people of Solwezi. My point is that there is still a chance that the MMD can retain the seat in 2011.
The way forward for the PACT at this moment is to hope that Mpombo and shakafuswa are expelled from the MMD so that they can have more bye elections before the 2011 while the mood is still high in favour of the PACT. This will greatly assist to change the mindset of the rural constituents where the MMD has unquestioned loyalty.
    Keep working…VIVA PACT

  72. Infuture MMD should think twice before contesting any election, including the general elections of 2011. If they can lose a seat in their strong hold, what of other areas such as Copperbelt,Lusaka, Southern, Northen and Luapula, it will be disaster in 2011.

  73. These are real Zambian Politics. MMD always loses in most uburn areas but they win in rural areas. They can suprise us in 2011. They cheat a lot in rural areas. Lets not forget what happened in 2001 and 2006 were Sata won in most of the uburn areas but lost from the votes in Rural Areas. If the pact has to win in 2011 they have to know how to overcome MMD in this area. I personally i am tired of MMD. Its time for change. The hour has come.

  74. We the people made MMD, we the people shall bring down MMD. This I speak in a literal sense. We created MMD, and we shall demolish it. When leadership of the UPND and PF formed a PACT, it was like the Seventh Coalition to defeat Napoleon at the Waterloo. Solwezi is the waterloo of MMD. This happened to UNIP and it will happen to MMD. Veteran, remember, your arrogance. You always have wanted to behave like Bwendo Mulengela or your friend Kamalondo. Ala bamudala, we have history of the national politics on our finger tips and we know the direction the nation is headed. You can stay in denial, but that will never be our problem.

  75. In a 150 house repesentative democracy where one MMD retains a grand 92 mandate now, winning every seat would be fueling a “defacto one party system”. Democracy MMD ushered in is strengthened when titular parties also retain even an insignificant voice.Lossing a seat presents the country a Golden opportunity to see necessary adjustments. The ruling party in its reorganization and realignment crusade makes some publicly beneficial alterations.Lossing one seat in a blue moon does not translate into grand political leverage.

  76. Kizito. Your analysis has some semblance of truth. People are not voting on their perception as to who’s gonna be president. When you build consensus and come up with a ‘coalition of the willing,’ whoever leads the team is no longer a factor. Bottom line is that people want CHANGE. People are fed up of almost 20 years of MMD LIES, THIEVING, CORRUPTION, NEPOTISM, etc. Just last month, at least 200 UNZA students couldn’t write their exams because of their failure to pay tuition and examination fees. Is this justice?

  77. In the USA, Obama’s Democrats just lost some seats to the GOP despite his overclouding and majority popularity. This is hardly 1 year when the GOP was uprooted. Loss of a seat is a message meant to remind the ruling that we do not buy thugs opposing you but please make some public adjustments. No one will tell me that Americans by defeating the DNC where Obama tenaciously campaigned mean the GOP back hardly a year after a historic election. Loss of a seat is very healthy democracy and it vindicates the MMD that what they started in 1991 is real functional democracy ushered in for good.

  78. L elo twalanyako bwino. I am sure by now RB has proved that his VP cannot campaign. I am Chifita is already missing his DC job. Well done pact. Next is Major Chizyuka. I have not seen such a scared military officer in my life. We want a bye-election especially that MMD has insulted the BRE and THE LITUNGA.

  79. What i find intresting is the use of corruption at this election that took place i think its high time that the ruling party realised that they should no longer use material things to get votes. The even ended up forcing the pack to give people things too during this election in partcular. That is in relation to the LT news pulished yesterday. Though according to the Post its only the MMD who were giving things to people. So election campaign is about telling people what the party will do for them and when voted to the position work towards the goal.

  80. #121 Veteran, your arrogant statements have led this resentment on MMD in a lot of people. When MMD was hijacked by people like and sending the true principles of democracy in a UNIPist Banda, people saw that Zambia was in a reverse gear and knowing the truth about MMD, true leaders have stayed away since people like you, shushushus have taken over. How can a villager like Charles Shawa, another shushushu, lead a nation? Mangani and Shikapwasha (two staunch dictators) become democratic on a snap of fingers? You are kidding? Ask yourself, why didn’t Katele Kalumba go to Solwezi? Where is Derick Chitala (Mbita)? Where is Simon Zukas?, Rolf Shenton? Depak Patel, Charles Museba? George Mpombo? Ernest Mwansa? Eric Silwamba? This my dear is just the tip of the iceberg. Wait for 2011.

  81. The Pact should have been there before. I see it is now working so 2011 mwapya ba MMD dyelan toni. Your days are numbered.

  82. Hi good morning people of Solwezi Now i can say i come from North western province because of the maturity you have portraid to the people of Zambia.Congratulations once more to the PF/UPND Pact keep it up.

  83. #113 As long as the momentum is gaining ground there is no going back. Its the MMD that will try by all means to destroy the PACT and with that quest it will be the end of the MMD. Already there are serious unresolvable divisions within the MMD. When GOD says YES no NO can be a NO. Mwana you better come to terms with reality. VIVA PACT VIVA!

  84. And the New Local govt Minister is ………..
Wow headache for RB, he was probably waiting for election outcome. May be he wanted Chifita to be Minister and make a small reshuffle..
    VIVA PACT!!

  85. Teta died and went with his seat the same applied to Levy with all his hardworking and principles. MMD miscalucated on their choice for leader Magande would have been an ideal stuff but what happens it was emotions and money passed hands now everything is visible. MMD in shambles. Western Province yili nu. Thye cant win 2011 based on votes from Central Province and Eastern and some parts of Northen Province. Kabinga Pande is not a politcial force neither could he have fitted in the late Teta’s shoes. Late Teta was most fearless political animal who faced his opponets HEAD ON. Pande is just an amature to lead a formidable campaign strategy. That chap still behaves like an office work giving press statements. To win in any politco contest u nid grassroot organiser.

  86. #123 Veteran, the Democrats did not lose any seat in the by elections. Stop lying. They lost New Jersey Governor’s office. That my dear is not anything to do with Obama. Do not sway people’s perception with lies. Obama still commands very good favorable polls in the US. Never has the loss of the Governor position been a source of despare to the Obama team. He is working for the people and his policies are geared to do good for the nation. YOU WILL NEVER SAY THE SAME ABOUT THE THIEVING AND CORRUPT GLOBETROTTING RUPIAH BANDA. So, stick to Zambia and Zambia only. No one here is discussing US by elections.

  87. MMD CHIEF BOOTLICKER WASUMINA. YOU SHOULD ALSO START PACKING, 2011 YOU ARE GOING BACK TO ZAMBIA. UMUTWE NGECHIPATO CHAKWA KOLWE

  88. MMMD’s t.e.s.t.i.c.l.e.s are numbered. BA PHY-COLOUR IMWE. YOU ARE NOW SHI.TING YOURSELVES. I CAN’T WAIT FOR 2011. CONGRATULATIONS ZAMBIA, VIVA PF, VIVA UNDP, VIVA PACT. SHOW THEM THE EXIT.

  89. Come on…winning by 5669 to 4457 is not a big achievement. In fact I would be worried if i was the pact. I combined force is supposed to win by a larger margin than this instead they pose a desperate win and are celebrating like arrogant know-it-all’s they are. The MMD has already gotten the necessary statistics for this and have already devised a plan ready for 2011. Anyway this is democracy and the majority has chosen a party with dictatorial tendencies (some of them have never held a convention since they where formed) so CONGRATULATIONS PACT but remember, he who laughs loud laughs the loudest so don’t get too comfy, 2011 is still around the corner. Otherwise, we hope to see you in the parliamentary debates for now.

  90. CORRECTION!
    # 34 MMD CHIEF BOOTLICKER
NICE THOUGHTS, AM GLAD YOU HAVE CONCEITED A DEFEAT
    YOU’RE THE MAN
    CONGRATS TO THE PACT

  91. Ba MMD Chief Bootlicker start planning your return to Zambia. No more shopping at Menlyn with money from poor Zambians. We will continue shopping us hard workers. To fellow Zambians lets support this call to remove MMD from power.

  92. If the pact can survive beyond the point of choosing a president to stand in 2011, then MMD will definitely lose. The country is suffering as a result of one party spending too much time in power.

  93. Mr. George Kunda shame on you! In fact something that keeps bothering me is that GK used to be weak in Levy’s time (MHSRIP). I just wonder how he has woken up and strong to move from one province to another. PF/UPND Pact be careful with these wizards. LPM death is just unbelieavable being a pres. to go like that when out on mission. These guys are examined before leaving especially with known ailment. VIVA PACT……This is a warning just look around they will be haunted for ever for even using LPM corpse as campaign strategy…….MMD you are finished……People were watching……..and are still analysing…….

  94. #123 VETERAN: Don’t expose your ignorance by comparing US Democracy which is centuries old and tested with the comedy in Zambia. Because of your MMD ( and Rupiah’s die-hard UNIP mentality), you have ensured that any dissenting voices are treated as enemies when people are just trying to make you realize your shortcomings. Don’t fool yourself that MMD can win back the people before 2011. You have no leaders; listen to who talks on behalf of MMD. The intelligent ministers are quiet while Rupiah, Mulongoti, Kunda, Shikapwasha and like-minded F.O.O.L.S are busy soiling themselves before their “in-laws”. If you are in the US on MMD business, start planning for 2011 or you will be an illegal soon.

  95. Mr capitalist, you are being petty,a win is a win, even by 1 vote, i thought you are going to come up with some counter measure of how to stop the PACT… roll your tongue in and dance to this…PACT PACT PACT,,,,

  96. Awe sure plz fill the challenger with Jet A1 fuel to take our peasant farmer who became a globe trotter back to his farm in the east…….Mwabombeni bakaonde, this is what we need!!!!
Zambia needs healing and indeed healing has begun cum 2011…..we shall be fully healed when PF/UPND goes to plot 1. Glory be to God!!!!

  97. # 138 Iwe Capital City…Dont bring in margins here. You lost period and this is a good indication bearing in mind that it was MMD’s seat. If l were you, l would start looking else were for my income. It wont be good after 2011.

  98. A combined force could only manage a thousand plus votes, this is a bit disaapointing. However a win is a win, and we look forward to hearing from you Watson in parliament. This is good a clear sign that rigging is but a myth, a defence mechanism used by loosing parties…..clearly MMD didnt not rigg….come 2011 we will be in power and we would have had a rig free election once again. Democracy prevails under the ruling party. For now congratulations, you put up a good fight.

  99. I never denied that a win is a win, all I am saying is it is not a great win. A bigger margin should be expected from a combined force of UPND and PF, instead we got results that one party can achieve so hence me saying, it is not a very good win (more especially from a combined force)

  100. Awe sure our peasant farmer who became a globe trotter has to go back to his farm in the east….plz fill his challenger with jet A1 fuel so that it takes him back…….Zambia needs healing and healing it shall get, come 2011 when PF/UPND pact goes to plot one.

  101. VIVA PACT. BUT YOU SHOULD SORT OUT CHISHIMBA KAMBWILI’S NONSENSE AND LET US KNOW WHO WILL STAND FOR PRESIDENCE IN 2011. WE NEED TO ASSES YOU GUYS. ZAMBIANS ARE NOT TO BE FOOLED ARROUND ANYMORE. SAY AND THE RIGHT THING TO THE OF ZAMBIA AND THE VOTES ARE ALL YOURS.

  102. SAKI #154 its not about the combined force here. Its about the Opposition VS MMD. RB using state machinery and resources won by a paltry 35,000 votes last year but the fact still remains that he won. What makes this bad to MMD is that they have lost a strategic seat. VIVA PF?UPND

  103. #155, capitalist, so you wanted the PACT to go and force people to and vote in masses? Be reminded that this is the time of people working in their fields. They decided to go kumabala as MMD has decided to give the jobs they created to laborers from India and China. So, what did you expect the people of Solwezi to do? At this point they seem not trust any politicians. In fact getting those few to vote, we should thank them for doing so. You open a mine in their backyard and all employees are from outside. What nonsense is that? When you talk of combined forces, remember that people were not voting because of two parties combining, they voted for the candidate they felt will attempt to answer and solve their problems. On the other hand, it was also a protest vote against MMD.

  104. # 135,

Where have i lied? In case you don’t understand things ask right here. Dispute after reading below:

Republican wins deal blow to Obama
Republicans win Virginia, New Jersey governorships from Democrats (msnbc/AP)

Republicans inflicted a double blow on President Barack Obama’s Democratic Party, winning gubernatorial races in two states that had backed him last year.

  105. Mr Capitalist, despite all the govnt resources available to the MMD they have been whooped, all the state machinery, infact the whole presidents administration was concetrated in Solwezi, you should be worried the rulling party has lost a stronghold, dont come out here with margins…fact, its easy for a rulling party to retain a seat than an opposition for obvious reasons,,,every time you write something you make people on here hate you even more,,,arent you worried that you are the only one here supporting MMd,despite the fact that you are changing names

  106. The Republican victories Tuesday in Virginia and New Jersey are a setback for Obama as he struggles to overhaul the U.S. health care system, win passage of climate change legislation, and build political support for his handling of the war in Afghanistan. They could also be ominous for Democrats ahead of next year’s midterm elections, when a third of the Senate, all of the House of Representatives and most governorships are on the ballot.

  107. First GOP governor in eight years
In Virginia, Bob McDonnell, a former conservative state attorney general, easily defeated R. Creigh Deeds to become the state’s first Republican governor in eight years. The state, once a Republican stronghold, had elected Democratic senators in 2006 and 2008. Last year, Obama was the first Democratic presidential candidate to win the state since 1964. McDonnell had about 60 percent of the vote with most precincts reporting.

  108. “#155, capitalist, so you wanted the PACT to go and force people to and vote in masses?”

Kalos you’re being redundant. I never said anything remotely to this nor did I mean that. Stick to what I said.

  109. #163, Veteran you are new to American politics. I would prefer i don’t waste my precious lovely celebratory time arguing on things you barely understand. An old adage says: It is ill manners to stop a F O O L and bad to let him go on. I choose the latter.

  110. ZNBC, news is news even if it does not please your MMD maggots. You never read any item concerning these results and as such never step in my yard for fees. You’re fools.

  111. “every time you write something you make people on here hate you even more,,,arent you worried that you are the only one here supporting MMd,despite the fact that you are changing names”

I don’t care what people think about me. I do not need approval from bloggers who blog insults 24/7. I don’t care if I am the only one supporting MMD. I am supporting MMD based on the market principles they have employed on the economy. Others are supporting the PACT on the premise of removing MMD. In short, I support MMD on principles and policies whereas others support the PACT just so they can remove the MMD without asking Sata how he is going to achieve his 90 day economic miracle.

  112. Veteran please save us the boredom with all your fun stuff. We have something tangible to talk about here. VIVA PACT VIVA

  113. Balongo Bami twimusanchila,Mwasebezai. RB should Tell the Nation something,if he want to be respected,he should learn from Mandela ,leaving office with dignity will do him good than waiting to be disappointed. Shikapwasha ,VJ and other MMD beneficiaries should advise the old man correctly. Thankyou Solwezi Twasanta.

  114. # 135,

This said i now challenge you to show where my lying is when i say ”
Lossing one seat in a blue moon does not translate into grand political leverage. No one will tell me that Americans by defeating the DNC where Obama tenaciously campaigned mean the GOP back hardly a year after a historic election.”

  115. btw, Smoothcriminal

These are the names I have carried.

    – Crazy_Zambian
    – Free-market-capitalist
    – Free-market-economist

    and not Mr. Capitalist

  116. Zambians you get excited for nothing and thats why you only realise when its too late that you have put a ‘dribbler’ in state house. You did the same in 1991 but KK is fine and enjoying his life and you are there walloping in poverty.Fight for a BETTER change and not a change where you will see Willy Nsanda in place of Prof Lungwangwa, GBM in place of Felix Mutati…Get the right people to replace the current team because you only have ONE chance,ONE opportunity in FIVE years to make that decision and after that it will be back to politics of ” we want change, we want change”.Change from what to what??????

  117. # 168, I’m here some 12 years long than you who just left your Ndola Primary school teaching job. There is nothing i don’t know about their politics we can debate here all day long.

  118. BONSE mulifipuba how can you rejoice when you have nothing on your table, Zambia has become Zambia and Sons. Each one with his son so Lumba newest MP will register a company and start supplying doncoms sorry condoms to Lumwana & Kansashi Mines in Solwezi.

  119. Iwe Chikala # 177. Do not be silly. You are calling us ifipuba. Iwe ulichipuba chikalamba. We chisushiwe. VIVA PACT

  120. # 170 Mr. Capitalist, don’t be emotional. No one comes on this site seeking for approval. By merely mentioning that, it really falls on your laps. Probably you do so. Why talk about something that no one has accused you of? Coming to the market principles that you have mentioned, can you tells what these principles are? When and who is in control of these same principles? I like the MMD market principle on Oil, Zamtel, ZESCO fiber, Grobetrotting, Chinese Investors we saw on the Post, Education system, Trial of Kabwela, Daily Insults by RB on Sata, Potholes, Health Care, Chiluba Acquittal, man the list is endless. These are really great market principles. If these and millions more that I have not mentioned are the principles, I will choose one with no principles at all.

  121. Capitalist-can you elaborate on market principles and policies about the mmd that you are supporting, can you point out the principles on which the mmd has scored for me maybe to change my mind and support and become a bootlicker

  122. # 176, you are lost again, there’s no one at that embassy of yours who has been there more than ten years. No debate Zambia not US politics. I have no time to sound boring to these esteemed happy celebrating PACT supporters. My job in Zambia was never as primary school teacher but a secondary school teacher. In fact I respect those primary school teachers. They laid my foundation and I will always respect and thank them for the job well done. You can despise them the way you want. After all it is the MMD style, not being thankful. By the way I came to the US in 1994. Quiet sometime, what do you think? Oh, I nearly forgot, MMD government paid for my air ticket, but I have a right to oppose them when they go wrong. That my brother is the spirit of a free thinker. What next?

  123. Kalos and Smoothcriminal.

Nice try at baiting me. Kalos, you can support whoever you want (same goes for Smoothcriminal) but answer me this, to what benefit will it be to me to tell you the market policies of the MMD administration? Why should I state some of the principles when you have clearly already made up your mind.

  124. #173 VETERAN- You are in denial. Grasping a seat from a sitting government is not a small affair, what with the bottomless resources. If I were you I would 1st look at the real cause. Our ersterwhile party has gone to the dogs. Expelling one person has an effect like a wave on the sea. You chase Magande, Shakafuswa etc multiply these with their families, friends and general sympathisers you will see that you have expelled 5,000 potential voters. These 5000 will vote for the PACT. So continue with your phoolish expulsions.

  125. The wisdom that comes with age does not accrue to those that use violence, intellectual snoobery to tribal bigotry to gain their way. That is so because the use of violence like Banda instigated in Solwezi or Sata onchestrated in Chawama are the last refuge of political scoundrels when intellectually challenged. I just hope Zambians would stop being cozy with such lepers vying or wielding power in the corridors of state because the outcome will always be purgatory!

  126. #186 Spot on,tell it as it is man, i said here before that if this Veteran had an electric brain,he would be a walking blackout,he’s been at the embassy more than 10yrs, what a lying self confessed, inept cretin, start packing 2011 is not far off

  127. I urge the leadership of the PF/UPND pact to start road shows as means of celebrating the Victory starting with Kitwe where the Copperbelt PF youth publicity secretary stays and was clobbered in solwezi while campaiging!!

  128. A VERY BIG LESSON FOR RUPIAH MUBWEZENI KUMUZI BANDA, AND ALL HIS CO – MINISTERS IN THE NAME OF MULONGOTI, SHIKAPWASHA, AMONG OTHERS. WE DON’T RUN A COUNTRY AS IF IT’S A FARM …NEVER. THIS IS WHAT WE SAY “KUNYINYA KWABALUMOKA”OR DAYS ARE NUMBERED. NEYI WUNANYINYI TUJI TWIYILA LELU BAYI NEYI NIKUMADIKI WAMBA KANYINYA TWIYILAKU…….SO OUR COMPANIONSHIP WITH ALL OF YOU IN GOVERNMENT IS GETTING TO A CLOSE. VIVA PACT, LONG LIVE HH & KING COBRA OF THIS WORLD. COME 2011 SO AS TO PREPARE RETIRING PACKAGE MUKAMUBWEZE BANDA KUMUZI.

  129. #166 VETERAN
Your analysis is totally irrelevant and as Zambians we can’t benefit from it. Let’s stick to our Zambia. We know you are die hard MMD. Now that you have lost you want to divert to a totally irrelevant topic (US politics). Let the Americans debate their own politics as they understand them better than you poor economic refugees. So get back to the issue at hand or stop commenting if you have nothing to say. I sympathize with you on the defeat.

  130. #188 Capitalist, I am not baiting you. You are my brother. I will do my baiting on Saturday when I go fishing before the lakes get frozen. Joking. I understand your plight on failing to mention the principles. It is because at the moment there’s none. Zambia is in auto pilot and it will take another party to land that plane. Not the one RB sleeps in (I mean flies in). At times you would think the man moved from State House to the plane. Any way, I am happy this is happening to MMD and our esteemed radio DJ now at US embassy in Washington. Veteran mudala, ushiteko chi DJ machine. Kuti twayaisulako ka bar pa corner.

  131. As we mark our 200th Blogingth let us remain non-violent as we celebrate this victory in our Bar’s, Guest Houses, Tarvens, Brothels, Plot 2, street corners, Parked Cars in the Dark and only stress one point that victory is certain in 2011.

  132. Capitalist, your job as a cader is to sell your party principles to me so i can change my perception about MMD and maybe vote for them come 2011,for your own info,im not PF nor UPND,im very open to wise councile, give us your market principles and policies your are shouting about, there about more than 200 bloggers on this site, you might just win their hearts, come on now

  133. Kalos

I understand your plight on failing to mention the principles.

I have not failed to list the market principles. I just don’t see the point when you have already made up your mind [proof: “It is because at the moment there’s none.] .

  134. “Capitalist, your job as a cader is to sell your party principles to me so i can change my perception about MMD”

Cost-Benefit analysis is something that is used in various sectors including business, social projects, going green and economics.

Like I said, to what benefit will it be to me to tell you the principles? Most of the bloggers here are based outside Zambia and (unless in Namibia) they don’t vote so what is the point?

  135. We know some of you are strong supporters of these parasites called MMD,but when you lose its a good thing to congratulate your opponents and its unwise to critise your opponent’s victory.Give praises where they are due ala!

  136. Its 5pm down under, time to celebrate,,,while you are at it, why dont you capitalist and veteran get yourselves a room and just cry it out, dont forget some tissues, you will need them
GOD BLESS ZAMBIA and GOD BLESS ALL YOU BLOGGERS-MORE LOVE,,,,,peace

  137. MMD IS FINISHED. LOOK AT THE MASSES OF LADIES MARCHING IN OPPOSITION. MMD AKOSE. LETS HAVE A LOOK AT RUPIAH’S ARROGANT FACE NOW. THIS VICTORY IS SWEET.

  138. # 208, BaMudala, kalaleni, even Bwendo or Kamalondo or Baghdad Bob found a few minutes to lay his head on the pillow. Kuti mwachita collapse as Bo Inonge is giving some speech about Aka’s attacks on the Litunga. So tusheniko.

  139. CAPITALIST, INSTEAD OF DEFENDING YOURSELF SO MUCH AND TRYING TO BE BRAVE IN THE FACE OF DEFEAT WHY DONT YOU JUST GO AND SLEEP MUDALA. KUYA FYE MUKULALA B’KAMBA AND LET US CELEBRATE. YOUR COMMENTS ARE DISTURBING THE FLOW OF CONGRATULATORY MESSAGES. BYE BYE!!!

  140. “We know some of you are strong supporters of these parasites called MMD,but when you lose its a good thing to congratulate your opponents and its unwise to critise your opponent’s victory.Give praises where they are due ala!”

    MATWORLD
When have the PF-UPND anti-govt faction ever offered the MMD the same accord. They blatantly and explicitly insult, defame and disrespect the MMD when they win elections. They also accuse the MMD of vote rigging. Is that respect? Can the MMD offer the same when they don’t offer the MMD the same? The MMD tried respecting them in Kasama by congratulating them, they still defamed, insulted and disrespected the MMD.

  141. The PF-UPND is a genuine people’s project which will not succumb to the whims of a few thugs, mugs, political despots, mercenaries, thieves, rapists and parasites dependent on Kanitundila. Like his late senile uncle Kamuzu Banda, Kanitundila will be history and those like Mlongoti, Shikapwasha, Dora and Ben Kangwa that feed from his criminaly incompetent rule that has brought about this hormorage of quality from our lives will be brought to book.

The time for them to abandon their mercenary ways they have been conscripted into by Kanitundila and gain sympathy from Zambians is now and not after Bwezani is in jail. Mark my word, Solwezi is a turning point, washala washala!

  142. #211 Capitalist, mudala naya. I have to a least put a few minutes sleep before I start my Friday chores. Imwe guys mwalikosa imitwe. Even when you know MMD is gone, you want to breath fresh air in the dead cow. If you did not milk that cow when it was alive, please sell the steak. You might recover some losses.

  143. Okay enough celebrations for now, seeing that the speaker says they will be no more by-elections until 2011,(misuse of tax payers money), unless in instances of loss of life. Pact while you enjoy the victory, be werry of the fact that you have two hearts in your pact, one for UPND and one for PF. Its about time you reconsidered your stance on the presdiency, let the people know who will lead so you can now acquire a solid combined pact, because, whoever leads this pact will have to face the like of new parties like Mulupi’s and Chipimo’s combined force, against MMD (who will have collected rebels from these individual parties). Identify your leader.

  144. MMD IS A FINISHED PARTY! THE PEOPLE HAVE SPOKEN! MMD IS TOO GONE, ROTTEN FROM THE CORE…ITS ENTIRE EXECUTIVE WILL HAVE TO GO…BUT DO YOU THINK THOSE MEN WOULD DO THAT…ILIKO LIKO LIKO

  145. Mr Capitalist thank you very much for all the juggling of nice words which obviously does little if not nothing to help those Zambians put fruits or ubwali on their tables. It is reason these great people of Solwezi have said away with MMD. If I were you I would be going to Solwezi to do a post-mortem. Shutting everyone up on the internet which the people of Solwezi know nothing about will not help your poorly party at all. Here is hoping we have another by election. This time in Eastern province so we see how we are doing. Viva pact. The people have spoken. Just keep watch people and stop these people looting. They know these are last days.

  146. This story is set to be the most commented on on LT this month… Congrats HH, congrats Sata, Congrats PACT.
I hear RB also wants to join the PACT!!

  147. Guys bushe tapaliko indoshi pano so that we try Eastern province? I will pay! lol! Alternatively we can try sending a few solalas with a very virulent one! One which works within 3 moths unlike the one chi VJ and red lips have.

  148. Where was VJ? In Kasama by elections he was nowhere to be seen even Solwezi Central by election. Or is man busy in parliament as Chief Whip making up for his final benefits. Pipo have have commented meaning MMD is fast losing popularity. George Mpombo must be smiling at the MMD loss to the PACT. Charles Kakoma and Stephen Katuuka were the only opposition MPs now the number is increasing. As for Hon Ron Mukuma, Kabompo is becoming pump for him. I am sure Rev. Anoshi Chipawaor Masela Sekeseke are lying an ambush. What has happened to Cop turned politician Bonshe, has he fully recovered to avoid another by election. The Northen Corridor of Zambia has been sealed. The Types of Elija Muchima, Richard Taima and the dumb Mwanza just start preparing a defection.

  149. Goodmorning

Well, it looks like finally the tables are starting to turn. Anyhow, he who laughs last laughs best, so lets be patient. History has shown us how things take a sharp turn just when you think all is sealed.

  150. Kalos mwaice wandi kasendame. Bambi they are paid to defend the party on here. In 2011 they will be defending the pact. One thing I would have liked the NCC to include in their final report is banning defections from party to party especially opposition to ruling parties until say after five years. Could have stopped parasites like the ones we see in MMD.

  151. @ 230. You’re very funny!
But on a serious note: now its up to the PACT to organize its power structure and devise a common and harmonised manifesto! Because once people realise that MMD has been annihilated, they’ll start asking what change the PACT will bring after the fall of MMD. Those philosophical disparities between PF and UPND need to be ironed out asap.

  152. Ba chifita how you win an election when you did not even vote for your self…..maybe you sold your voters card….shame

  153. Thumbs up for the people of Solwezi you have made us Z loving people so proud of you. I wish this big mpuno Mulongoti had a constituency also that it should also have died that the pact moves in to save the innocent people in very WRONG hand of these THUGs chicken fillet Nyamasoya and his group of rascals. God will surely make people wise by voting wisely. Nyamasoya thats a wake up call start packing and say start saying bye to the pilot who takes you to your girlfriends out there

  154. Watson Lumba is an honourable man. Congratulations! One electoral monitor predicted that the election was not going to be free and fair. I wrote against such silly patronising of the Zambian people that just because they receive a bag of mealie meal they will change their vote. It is time people realised that Zambians are mature. The rubble rousers are the cadres, who by the way are in the minority. A great majority of Zambians do not belong to any party. If they are seen wearing a party chitenge, it is just free clothing that gives you access at the airport to the VIP area!!! (LOL) Teta spent too much time in national affairs that he forgot his constituency. If he had time with these people, they would have returned MMD. Lesson to ministers!

  155. #208 VETERAN- There you go again. There is a difference between your actions and that of 23 PF MPs. These 23 have betrayed the people by accepting to be on that tax payers’ money consuming NCC – It an MMD ploy to ensure their perpertual stay in power, nothing more or beneficial to the Zambian out here on the streets. The fact that they have resisted expulsion is enough to show that that FACTOR weighs heavily against them. They have no faith in themselves. The opposition is becoming more popular than Rupiah’s MMD/UNIP because of the arrogance of a MR. KNOW IT ALL you guys are exhibiting. If its true you’re BK, it makes me sad. Iremember in 1991 at Inters, Lusaka, Zambia, when you walked in with Timmy Mvula. I felt happy to see two in person insteady of the small box.

  156. #veteran, capitalist, are you based in Zambia or in the diaspora? The mood has changed locally its like 1990/91 all over againparty , your current leadership has failed. Resorting to bribes and violence won’t help you gain popularity. Can you seriously advise the true members of the MMD to get back to the drawing board (convention) and take back the party to what it was?Iin its current form, am sorry MMD is heading no where and the ideals that it was founded on have been hijacked by a small clique who have no ideasl of what it takes to ran a party and by extension the government. See also Noe Simutanyi’s analysis on the 2008 elections that you won by only about 38 000 votes in the Zambia Analysis magazine Jan 2009 edition. You postings reflect someone detached from what is on the ground.

  157. #236. That shouldn`t be a problem I don`t think (Eng english here people). The worst kept secret is that Sata will be ineligle to stand. But that I believe, is a blessing. We need fresh blood. We need to start with people who have never crossed boundaries. The last 20 years have just seen us get back to UNIP no wonder we have ended up with a UNIPist at State house. Ban these defections, reduce the powers of the president, ban ACC and set up something like TF. The list is endless. Viva pact.

  158. Stupid people like Veteran are here surely in this age and day. Veteran and the like go to hell now and shut up. We know how our people are suffering. This NGO called MMD has made people suffering a lot. HH/Sata need support of every one thinking.

  159. Is it true that Veteran is Mr Ben Kangwa formally of ZNBC? And is it true that he is a diplomat at the Zambian Embassy in Washington? If it is true then it is very unfortunate that a diplomat can turn himself into an MMD cadre issuing repulsive statements.

  160. #244. It doesnt matter if he decides to be paid and goes by that-so be it! Whoever posts under Veteran or Capitalist know they are out of employment in 2011. Do you think they would sit and watch? They have to defend whatever it takes. Never mind people like him. The fact is people have realised they can no longer be taken for mugs. Enough is enough. By the way we dont want defections George Mpombo or not. Stay where you are people.

  161. #244. Blue Blood. Sata also said even the foreign service was full of cadres.
“The foreign service is supposed to be for career diplomats or civil servants but the whole foreign service is full of cadres,” he said.
He called for the abolition of the Public Service Commission and the diplomatic school.

  162. @236.
That’s exactly my point! Why should it be a “secret”? The PACT needs to be seen in a whole new light. It ought to be transparent, unlike anything like the MMD. Within the next few months, we need to start seeing a gradual shift towards one presidential candidate, and away from the so called “chalingalinga”. Waiting to do the transition pa last minute may have very nasty repercussions for the PACT. I think pinning hopes on Sata not being eligible to stand come 2011 is not only wishful thinking, but naive too, considering the person we’re dealing with!

  163. Studies of Liberal democracy in developing countries has proved that Urbanites massively vote once in national political cycle usually following a major national real crisis such war or economic crisis.Thereafter, they don’t vote ruling parties but largely become apathetic to the ballot. The very few that vote, vote against the ruling parties which are not embracing unsustainable socialist policies. They are emotionally driven by their failure to meed social need in urban areas. This is different from the highly conservative rural voters who in the case of this country represent a 60% of registered voters against 40% in urban registers who worse more are apathetic.Urbanites talk alot but with more apathy. No surpising that of the 64,600 registered voters, only 13,000 voted yesterday

  164. Sweet Victory for the Desperate Zambians who are sick and tired of this movement for mad dogs. good for nothing bunch of people. the chief globe trotter must be shown the door come 2011. PACT organise yurselves more. you seem to be the only last hope in hell………………

  165. They are emotionally driven by their failure to meet social need in urban areas.MMD’s responsible capitalism and not unsustainable socialism is the future of this country.

  166. #249 I do not know why you decided to get your knickers in a twist there. The world over by elections are the poorest attended. You are just about right on all the points you put across. Remember when you were in UNIP? Kaunda and yourself cried that women did not vote. When people get fed up all you see is a vote cast with a hardned heart. If you guys do nothing about the sufferings of people, you are gone baba. The sad truth is you`ve run out of time. Busy globe trotting!

  167. Ha ha veteran is a description of your electrical (or is it steam-powered? or diesel from grass maybe) brain my friend. The future comes even to Zambia, thank god

  168. Mpombo has warned that the MMD will continue suffering setbacks as long as they don’t go to the convention- courtesy of radio phoenix.

  169. ALSO REVELAND SHIKAOPWASA, TELL US SOMETHING ABOUT THE OUTCOME!! AS FOR GEORGE KUNDA AND RUPHIA THEY SAW IT COMING WHEN THEY VISTED SOLWEZI!!

  170. Veteran. It`s a shame that a party like MMD will go down under. This is what I hate about politics in Africa. RB will be gone back to the farm. People like yourself will start bootlicking and eventually find their way to the pact. How I wish Africans could wake up one day and say no to defections. My fear is 6 years down the line the pact will be exactly where MMD is.

  171. Congrats to PACT!!Now that both Sata and HH have delivered, the heat of who is going to be the leader of the PACT has heightened and MMD is banking on this.

  172. Unfortunately, neither is MMD zealot, Michael Sata, capable of ruling a modern state. We need elections in the Pact, with a sesnible man at the top.

  173. i do not understand all this hype is all about, however it just goes to show how ill informed most bloggers are .This seat you celebrating about belonged to UNPD before Mozoka died ,Mwanawas co-opted Teta into MMD?????And thats how Teta went joined MMD as power broker put RB into plot one surely his death is a big loss to the Kaondes he was such a vibrant leader who helped Levy to get into plot for second term am not sure if he was properly appreciated.anyhow MMD is a strong party even as it lost the seat one thing is for sure that it is a wake up call otherwise come 2011 Zambia will be governed by incomptent ,selfish little people and they will wind the clock of progress back.MMd please do not despair, remain focused and reorganise yourselves thereis still plenty of time to do so.

  174. Writing is on the wall indeed. This is just first blood, MMD and RB should really be worried. They have also failed to capture a ward in Choma! The key that the current MMD is missing is that the troops on the grassroots are not being considered or consulted. How many NEC members and ministers or MP’s are there? Compare that with the number of grassroot voters – its elementary arithmetic. Viva Pact, Abash MMD, RB – Kuya bebele. If i were Mulongoti and RB i would start gazetting to convert a house into a prison.

  175. “mwanakazi akanyanya nsanje nikungomuleka nakumutolela muyake aleka nsanje.”get the meaning please. COULD IT BE THE BEGGINING OF THE END???????? OF THE<<<<nalekako……

  176. 249.
    Veteran says:
November 20, 2009 at 12:48 pmStudies of Liberal democracy in developing —— Y OU ARE TOO FULL OF THEORY. THAT PATTERN DOES NOT APPLY TO ZAMBIA. HERE PATTERNS CHANGE WITH THE MOOD AT THE TIME. 2006 : SATA GOT ALOT VOTES IN TOWNS OF CB & LUSAKA, KABWE AND ALSO GOT A LOT VOTES IN BEMBA SPEAKING RURAL AREAS SUCH AS LUAPULA AND NORTHERN PROVINCE. HH GOT MOST VOTE IN BOTH RURAL & URBAN SOUTHERN PROVINCE. LEVY GOT ALOT OF VOTES I RURAL CB AND OTHER PROVINCES APART FROM THE ONES ABOVE. IN SHORT THAT ELECTION WAS TRIBAL BASED, WITH EACH ETHINIC GROUP VYING TO HAVE THEIR KIN AT PLOT ONE. 2011 WILL BE ABOUT GETTING THE CORRUPT MMD OUT

  177. you noisy pact chaps?Y are u so scared to name your 2011 plot1 candidate?fear of the unknown baiche imwe….I bet even 2011 you will cry again unless you find a better person than than thoz 2 used brutal expired thugs “King and Prince Cobra”.

  178. VIVA PACT, We now know who “vimasilu are” Despite using all government resources, distributing food, clothes e.t.c. The gallant men and women of Solwezi have yet againg given us a litmus test. Living above all short lived corrupt gifts from the Movement for Mad Dogs and yet again, just like our brothers and sisters in Kasama, demonstrated that enough is enough. VIVA progress!! VIVA true Patriotism. We shall open all seemingly closed pandora boxes in 2010 starting with all appeals as well as yet again stripping someone’s immunity

  179. WARNING! What made zambia fail to qualify to the world cup was losing 3 games including the home ground games. So is it a good signfor the MMd. The tables are turning i surpose or its too early to predict?

  180. It is lack of understanding, if Sata and HH has agreed to form a pact soon after Levys demise….We would have a change of govt…. But again is it just changing govt or electing leaders who will form policies and come up with a system that will help to revive our nation? if the answer is the latter then we should be more cautious…Lets also look at the caliber of MPs that we elect. What do expect MP like Vera to contribute in the house apart from dozing and drinking Manzi. As if that is not damaging she is made minister, what a waste of resources. How do expect development with failures leading you.Zambia need a govt of national unity there are effective leaders in MMD they are are fools too. Still feel Magande is a right person to head financials. Mutati is blilliant young man

  181. Viva Vimasilu! Pabwatooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

  182. # 275, Got too much is a street kaponya language. At this level wedebate facts, percentiles, margins and figures not too much. What percentage of registered voter?

  183. We shall fight and fight without seizing. Why are you concerned about our Presidential candidate? Do you have a word in your dictionary “strategy”? Are you being sincere with yourselves even if you say you are “Die hard MAD” Have you also given us your 2011 candidate? Do you want to switch your camp after knowing who our candiate will be? what is your biggest problem “die hard cadre?” Anyway, FEAR should be your biggest problem right now because you are sitting on a grass fence. You are well come to join progressive people.

  184. #249, 253 VETERAN & #270 YAYA, What are you two yapping about? Why don’t you just keep quiet and hibernate? By the way where is your brother SENIOR CITIZEN?
Your dictatorial and corrupt MMD has been kicked in the teeth and now belongs to the dustbin like UNIP. The people of Zambia are fed up and their message is clear, come 2011. The writing is on the wall. Well done and congratulations Kasama, Solwezi and Kauba. The likes of Rupiah, Kunda, Mulongoti, Shikapwasha, ..etc.. must start packing their bags now and look for jobs. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. VIVA THE PACT !

  185. OK baice anyone else in Kitwe on here? We are holding a victory party tonight in Parklands. Palya baice pa corner. I am paying. Be there. All you need to bring is a card PF/UPND. Do not bring your wife/girl friend as all women in the building are automatically mine.

  186. Damn these chaps have done it again … next stop KAFULAFUTA, Mpombo must resign and join pact just to show how bad the pact is…

  187. HH can make a good president in future he seem to be determined and objective.Lets not just look at his tribe…he is a nice young man..I am standing as MP in one of the constituencies and I will soon present my agenda mid next year…enough talkinf its time to work watch this space….Anyone knows where the ‘lunatic* former Kasama MP?-He seem to have a dream but I think he is too excited and over ambitious with his political mission ..Just thinking loudly

  188. #283 Dont try to hide in jargon. My English is impecable so dont compare me non existent species. You call them names, but can you decline their vote. %age? that is imaterial. Recent votes had same pattern with these %ages Gen 0.76%, HH 19.7%, Sata 38.13% Rupiah 40.09% of the total vote cast.

  189. How i wish these guys were reading this blog. they’d soon realise they are of no value anymore. they are trash and belong in the dust bin.
    MMD wawa!

  190. I have no commenti! Its good and also bad.. The bad side ni TRIBAL and the good sided ni change in politics. Fili okotuleya.

  191. congrats to the Pact. Its high time that our president stopped moving up and down and concentrated on national issues. I hope he will heed to people’s call for him to stop governing the nation from the air.

  192. Mulongoti : Boss we have lost in Solwezi
RB : Vimasilu va-wina ok visiyeni, but dont worry ,2011 is ALL ours.they dont even know their       president and thats the weapon we will use on them.they are internally confused ,how can you have an under-5 (still wrapped in diappers) and an ugly SNAKE as your leaders???zoona ni vimasilu

  193. 195 Lunda wunasoneki wamana nankashi. Twasakilanga nankashi hadi etu twakenga muchidi wetu.
Eyi Wandi wudi ngahi mukwetu? neyi wunamoni iyi yi hosheli yami chinga wakahoshi nanami.
    Tunasakili nankashi

  194. THE PF/UPND pact has won the Kauba ward by-election in Pemba constituency of Choma district.
This is according to election results released to ZANIS in Choma early today by district electoral officer Enock Kandingwa.

Mr Kandingwa who is also Choma town clerk said the PF/UPND candidate, Hudson Bbole polled 945 votes against the MMD’s Hosea Mwana who only managed 308 votes.

  195. So does this mean that the elections were free and fair? What does FODEP say? People should stop being short-sighted. MMD is playing a long game. Kabwela aquitted then the judiciary is apolitical, lose in Solwezi then there is no vote rigging. Which means that when MMD wins in 2011 no one will be able to accuse them of cheating. Where does this take the pact? Who did the voters vote for -HH or Sata? How do people vote in by-elections as opposed to general elections and how will the performance of the economy determine voting patterns in 2011?

  196. No 299 if you are planning the usual tricks God will sought you out for oppressing ennocent Zambians.Do not be so proud be a bit humble.

  197. We in MMD accept defeat honorably unlike some pepole we know. Please accept my congratulation Ba Pact. One thing though is not clear still, does this mean it is Sata or HH who is popular in Solwezi? My heart skips a beat when I think that the educated HH is giving way to the illiterate Sata to take over the pact. This is becuase HH was seen flushing the PF symbol in Solwezi. Can any well meaning Zambian tell me that they are ready to give power to one Corrupt Sata? Remember Levy resigned as Veep due to Sata’s Corruption at Medical Stores, where will Zambia be if this man takes over? For the sake of Mother Zambia I hope such a thing should not happen. Change is good but it should not be change just for the sake of change!!!! Change should make things better. I do not see that with Mr Sata!

  198. You are right Jazzie Jazzie. The only down side is you are g a y! Ktwe mbona. Parklands. Mwise bangwele. Free beers. All women are mine. Nindya goat bangwele tumisisi twenu twafwa. Tiyeni tusefye bambuli mwila otosafye pa net.

  199. Grabbing meat from a lion’s mouth requires a real man. HH yu have proved to be man. Thanx to the LUNDA vote, that saw greediness of the MMD and decided to shift allegence. VIVA HH, VIVA LUNDAS, LUVALES, Chokwes, Mbunda and Kaondes

  200. Too bad for the ruling party, i just hope they now know and realise that people have seen their incompetence. i hope they will pull up their socks or else it will be worse in 2011.

    VIVA PACT

  201. This is the beginning of the end of MMD in North-Western Province. Actually after the death of Mwanawasa (RIP) there is no reason for North-Western Province to support MMD and RB. Mwanawasa had a passion to develop the Province. On the other hand Rupiah Banda, as a disciple of Kaunda, was in the UNIP government which neglected the Province for the 27 years that it was in power. Does RB have a positive approach towards the Province? The answer is a categorical NO. A leopard never changes its spots. Well done people of Solwezi Central. MMD should be totally humiliated in 2011.

  202. Ba Pact please understand that in an election there has to be a winner and a loser, we have lost this one, congratulations. Do you know how you have managed to win these two elections? by buying voters cards from people and also bt importing violence from CB. Is this the Zambia you want? I know chiwamila galo, but the Pact supporters have you ever seen the parties manifesto? Dont be cheated like little kids being given sweets for a promise of better things? Look at the track record of your leaders, it is a shame. Come 2011 the MMD will still prevail. This happened during the 2001 election, FDD won a few seats, where are they? history repeats itself! You might not like it but thats just the way it is.

  203. #310 please don’t make this about tribes, shows how much you know about the demographics of Solwezi Central, since the mines came in, there have been a lot of movement from the urban areas thereby having a mix of people mostly from the copperbelt. I have to admit Sata’s experience in politics is giving us headaches but we are lucky the old man is not very principled, he will mess up soon and even go on TV and say that he is reconciling with govt. We like competition but violence has to stop!

  204. #317
Sata Reconciling with govt, that’s what I call ‘naive-s.t.u.pid-wishful thinking. Instead of waiting for the PACT to mess up, what you MMD should be thinking is regrouping and addressing the needs of the poor majority in Zambia! Maybe by 2011 you may manage to sway away a few of them to your camp. Go back to the drawing board, and sort out the mess you’ve found yourselves in. Otherwise, come 2011, your destiny will mirror what happened in Kasama, & now Solwezi!

  205. Finally when you put heads together you can overcome anything,Sata and HH have realised in order to bring down a tree you need a sharp axe and technique, but stand afar when the tree falls,it might fall on your head….

  206. We saw it coming.VIVA PF ang congrats to the pact for the victory,Another abayashi mu MDIDIDI and the pact wins, we are taking over, now red lipped Veep has nothing to use when licking nyamasoya`s boots. and you chaps talking about tribal politics just dont have better things to write about try ONE ZAMBIA ONE NATION.

  207. RB must be fueling his jet by now, for another trip to avoid embarrassment. Where is MMD’s stronghold, if they have any? The people of Kasama and Solwezi are paving the way for the beginning of the end of MMD.

  208. #301 Reuben, NASAKILILUKU HAMA HAMAZU EYI MWANTA. ANAMI NAWA NAKEN’GA CHIKUPU ANTU AKWETU ADIMWEKESHA HATOOKA BAYI ANA AKA KUDISWEKAKU. NAKUHWELELI NAKWILUKI YEYI REUBEN, MBWAMBU DAMI HA FACEBOOK. NEYI YEYI WUN’GAKULI YALEYI NASAKILILUKU HAMA.

  209. Ba VETERAN is a Zambian fool living in the States…embracing! Can anyone TODAY really believe in MMD as the party to see us through? TODAY!!!

  210. Congratulations to the winner but there is still a long way to 2011. Politics is a paradoxical concept that has elluded a lot of individuals and groups for a long time. Sometimes it is difficult to predict the future based on current success. However, it is time for the losers to evaluate the status-quo and ask serious questions and formulate viable strategies. For the winners, it is about building on what is working. This truly demonstrates how Zambia is a democratic country. Proud to be a Zambian.

  211. MMD is a sinking ship, Titanic. Enough is Enough all of the bloggers routing for MMD, I’m so sorry. You better start living right because MMD is going out the door.

  212. Those interested in Zambia cannot and should not allow Sata to take over. The man cannot be trusted with power. The pact is dead in water, I do not see them winning 2011, they will dissolve before our very eyes, they can;t WIN. NO no no.

  213. The pact is good ideas.. but they must know that MMD won in rural areas…sata has no support in rural areas…HH can compete in western, southern, north-west and reduce chances of MMD winning…!!! Towns will always reject MMD no matter what they do..!!! this is where they should be careful in putting sata as a leader!!!! sata can not win in rural areas.

  214. The only way the MMD will win in 2011 is if the pact fails and the MMD no’s this thats y the are trying to sour seeds of distrust in the 2 camps. Who ever stands on the pact ticket will take the day SATA o HH.The pact will surelly bag lusaka, copperbelt ,northern, luapula,an southern.
western and northwestern will b shared MMD will get Eastern and Central.

  215. What can one say; when an opposition leader keeps all the money, has no accountant, nor treasurer, no auditor, does not want elections and pays his cadre security talktime? Collects donor funds, and 26 ISUZU VANS for 2008 elections which disappear in thin air (but every child and grandchild must drive a car)? How will Zambia be ruled by a heartless and cruel person? How will the unequal yoke, goat and cow work, when the two camps are diametrically opposed; one going to pray the other to “Sheki it”? How many MPs have clean water and tarred roads, with street lights in all their town ships? Are some of these not from the PACT? Is their a remedy for the PACT to be cleaner and more attractive than what we see now?

I am for the PACT, but these questions need to be intelligently answered.
